Perceived exertion is defined as the subjective feeling of effort, stress, discomfort or fatigue that the subjects will experience during exercise and the most common scales for the assessment of perceived exertion is Borgs perceived exertion scale. The aim of this study is the validity assessment of Borg's 6-20 ratings of perceived exertion (RPE) scale to assess fatigue during exercise in the female students. To do this, 88 non-athletes girls in the age group 15, 16 and 17 years randomly selected and doing Bruce test on the treadmill until exhaustion were announced, immediately after the test, the subjects perceived exertion (using Borg's 6-20 ratings of perceived exertion (RPE) scale) were asked and blood lactate concentration (sampling of non-premium hand middle finger) were measured 1 minutes after finishing the test. For Measure of fatigue, lactate concentration was above 4 (mmol/ L). Hence validity by the Pearson correlation coefficient between Borg scale of perceived exertion and blood lactate concentration was calculated. The provided results revealed the insignificant relation in first group (15 years old girls) (p = 0.802) and significant relation in two other groups (16 and 17 years old) (respectively, p = 0.014 & p = 0.004). This study can be said, the Borg's ratings of perceived exertion (RPE) scale is a proper tool in assessing fatigue in 16 and 17 years old girls. Therefore, it can be used to guide clinical and rehabilitation activities and exercise, individualization exercises and activities to prevent possible injuries caused by fatigue in this community.
